Dareios rectangular tray is handcrafted in pure Lais marble in a small village in the north of Greece famous for its marble quarries and pays homage to ancient Greek civilization, especially to the Acropolis and Parthenon. Lais marble is a metamorphic rock that morphs from limestone under extreme heat and pressure deep within the earth. It also contains dolomite along with the limestone which gives them different colors and tones. The traditions of marble carving and sculpture that goes back thousands of years to the famous Greek sculptors Phydias and Praxitelis are still alive today. Dareios tray is carved by hand and conveys a feeling of modernity while representing the luxuriousness of the material formed by nature and enhanced by human interpretation.
